a facebook story

ummmm, there's something i should confess. though i rarely ever get hit on, when i do...the same two conditions always exist:
a) they are physically unattractive and/or weird&dorky
b) they fall madly in love with me and propose future marriage

as in, they always say, "i'm going to marry you one day". true story. like, there's a list. now clearrrrly, i've been in a relationship with nicholas for four years (and they know that) but when a crush develops, they fall hard. i don't know why or understand it. but for real, it happens. (four times, in case you're wondering).

why am i telling you this? because i used to work with a guy (years ago) who was really easy to talk to. we played the dots game together during slow hours. anyways, he was kind of a computer nerd (like, makes his own websites and will probably be rich one day) and yea, he liked me. and no, i'm not vain - he told a manager that "we had a connection" and he "was waiting for me to leave my boyfriend". soooo fast forward to a few days ago. while on facebook, i noticed that he asked friends and family for feedback on his new business website. out of curiousity, i looked at it. and found a hell of a lot of misspelled words! i submitted my feedback and complimented his site for looking nice and professional, to which he responded..."Thanks Sam. I appreciate it." or so I thouuuught.

you see, umm, here's the awkwardish part. i receive email notifications when people comment on certain things and therefore, his response(s) to my comment were received via my inbox. and though "Thanks Sam. I appreciate it." is what appeared on Facebook, I discovered he had first sent the message below (deleted it) and then posted the visible response. ohhhh snap! and whaaaat. he's totally a nice guy and we actually got along really well. so seeing this was flattering in a "cute" way. though totally shocked me at first! let's put it this way, if things don't work out with nicholas and this dude does in fact become a millionaire, i'm down. hahaha. don't judge me.

dexter and dart

my boyfriend has two mutant-hybrid animals known as chinchillas. they look like some weird combination of a rabbit-rat-squirrel, and i mean that in the cutest way possible. though a little strange at first, they're pretty loveable cause of their soft fur and funny antics. you see, chinchillas are nocturnal animals that are endlessly in motion, jumping to high ledges in their cage or running in their wheel. and everything in their cage is edible because they like to chew. but the best thing about chinchillas is how adorable they look when eating. and watching them take dust baths! ahahahha. {video coming soon} while at nicholas' house the other day, we took dart and dexter into the bathroom, a small, safe, but mostly confined area for them to play in and laughed as they flipped and flopped and turned us into their personal jungle gyms. afterwards we spent some time with his dog sonic, who's really old and having health problems. it's sad, she's a sweetie.

phone home

watching the creepy medical scene from E.T. in the park

this past weekend, my bff brittany mentioned that the mt.p waterfront park was showing E.T. on an inflatable screen and suggested we go. a few phone calls later, we had a group of participants and a handful of blankets to lay on the grass. not only did i get to eat boiled peanuts and cotton candy from the various vendors at the event, but i also got over my fear of the movie's "hospital" scene. thankkk goodness.

afterwards, everyone met up at dan's apartment to play the big taboo. as always, girls won! then, we moved our game piece back to the space the boys were on...and beat them again. relentless.

the group of lovely friends

this is when i successfully guessed "p.m.s"

little pig nose

one of my very favorite movies is Penelope. i watch it all the time. not only is there comedy and a love story (and a "learn to accept yourself the way you are, rather than trying to be what other people want" message) there's also this whimsical quality of the movie that i looove. i mean, have you seen her purple peacoat with colorful buttons down the front? cutenesss. not to mention the scenery and accompanying music. gah, i just love everything about this movie. including reese witherspoon. who just so happens to be one of my very favorite actresses (and also one of Penelope's producers). but quite possibly my very favorite thing in this very favorite movie of mine is the rope swing in her bedroom. an absolute must-have in my future residences. i am not joking around here. havetohaveit! and if you haven't seen this movie, watch it. you might not have the same fondness for it that i do, but you will like it. for sure.

this hairstyle rocks. and her wardrobe and vespa, too.

she's a teacher...how cute is her classroom?

ahhh...i die for this.

aquatic breeze

i can hardly contain my excitement {yes, i look crazzzed ahaha}

ohhh! i forgot to tell y'all...
one of my customers at work left this nifty fan on my table
last weekend. yup, i remember because it was a little girl's
birthday and she was really excited!
but they never came back for it, sooo finders-keepers!
not only is it really pretty and fun to play with,
but it's also practical cause it folds up real conveniently
and can be stashed in my purse for hott outside times.
whoop whoop

self-explanatory

this is a tweet i wrote earlier:

and these are the future tour dates that are within reasonable driving range...atlanta would be the best, but it's on a wednesday which will not be compatible with my fall schedule. orlando would be sweet cause we could go for the weekend and hit up an amusement park. i seriiiously must go see paramore live or i might literally fall into the darkest depression imaginable. i mean, probably not. but i would sell an internal organ to be at a paramore concert. just imagine the energy! so who's going?

p.s. can you tell i just learned how to take partial screenshots?
yea, i'm pretty stoked about it.

locks adorned

so as you know, my bff went traveling around Europe
for a month this summer, visiting Germany, France, and England.
while in London, she bought me this sparkly headband
at TopShop, which i adore. i mean, helloooo...sequins. and flowers.
thanks, brittany!

{this is more of an awkward-happy-fist-pump-dance than a punch. lol.}

station 24

dear summer,
oh how i love you.
particulary on this past gloriiious sunday
which was spent in the sun and ocean
reading cosmo aloud and jumping off of shoulders.
dining beachside at coconut joes with a
beverage of rum and citrus juice,
eating a veggie wrap and deliciously crunchy french fries
was the cherry on top.
thanks for that.

slow wake

saturday night was spent at red's icehouse on shem creek.
despite the charleston heat, the rooftop was nice and breezy
and the view was gorgeousss.
there was actually a wedding in the building next door
and we all saw the bride and groom jump on board a motor boat
and set out to the sea. whaaaat
that's pretty awesome.

very berry

a few weeks ago, i learned that using frozen fruit in smoothies
is a genius idea, as it eliminates the need for ice,
which most blenders have trouble grinding,
ruining the smooth texture.
so when berries went on sale the other week,
i bought a container of each and stuck 'em in the freezer.
with a little bit of vanilla yogurt and milk -mmm.
not to mention, frozen blueberries are a really good snack!

house design

while looking for a pizza peel at bed bath & beyond
{as a present nicholas' birthday...shhh! don't tell}
i found this amaziiing creation in the kitchen section and
i. must. have. it.
it's a parrot wine bottle holder!!! see?
see how the top goes in it's cute little beak
and the bottle rests between his wings, claws, and tail?
how cute is that?! ahahaha
i immediately sent brittany a picture text
explaining to her that this will be in our future apartment
and if she doesn't think it's cute, we legitimately can not be friends.
pretty sure she thinks it's "tacky"...gasp!

other things that caught my eye were this fondue set,
great for having an appetizer or dessert party with friends
and those colorful z-stem martini glasses.

climb treeing and cycle bikings

i've been wanting to get outta the house more
and do enjoyable activities, so i made a list
of all the things i like doing - that don't involve a tv or computer
(ya know, besides blogging)
and had some epic nature adventure fun time
with nicholas on friday at the palmetto islands county park.
we rented bicycles and explored a bunch of nature/marsh trails.
my favorite find was the big tree {perfect for climbing}
that stretched across the top of a creek
if only there had been a rope swing (and high tide)...ahhh.
oh! we also saw a cute little raccoon playing in the water
finding food from the top of an observation tower.

fresh baked

my house smells like cookiiies

{iii have a sweet tooth}

in other news
i spilled a large tray of beverages on a man at work today.
and a family paid their $50 check entirely with one dollar bills.
ummmm...really? omgah.
then, during the dinner shift i dropped a stackful of plates,
shattering them on the floor. everyone stared.
minutes later, a customer knocked over their sweet tea!

piece of mind

fact: i am musically obsessed with paramore.
when their newest cd {brand new eyes} came out i liiiterally listened to nothing else for about two months. after a while, my musical coma started to worry me. so i turned on the radio and listened to other music, but i still find myself shoving their cd into my car stereo all the time, particulary when stressed, sad, or upset. which sounds weird, but it's only because cranking up the volume and singing along provides a huge emotional release for me. it's like i get all of my energy out and feel calm again. i totally listen to it when i'm good moods too and just want to get pumped up. hayley williams is an idol. and here, are some of my favorite paramore lyrics from {brand new eyes} - there's others that i like too but i tried to make this as condensed as possible. you get the idea. oh! and to check out more of paramore's work, go here.

we all learn to make mistakes
and run from them with no direction
we'll run from them with no conviction
{from misguided ghosts}

you built up a world of magic
because your real life is tragic
{from brick by boring brick}

next time you point a finger
i'll point you to a mirror
{from playing god}

it hurts remembering
how it felt to shut down
you can't be too careful anymore
when all that is waiting for you
won't come any closer
you've got to reach a little more
{from careful }

i'm always wrong
but you're never right
{from looking up}

seems like it's getting harder to believe in anything
than just to get lost in all my selfish thoughts
{from turn it off}

all the best lies,
they are told with fingers tied
so cross them tight
{from feeling sorry}

taken for granted most everything
that i would have died for just yesterday

honestly, can you believe we crossed the world while it's asleep
i'd never trade it in, cause i've always wanted this
and it's not a dream anymore, it's worth fighting for
{from looking up}

little lunch date

just wanted everrryone to know that

Monday, July 12

tai chi chuan

the obligatory goofy glasses picture

on sunday night, nicholas made pizza for dinner.
afterwards we decided to see a movie at the theater and
threw shreds of paper into a hat for random selection.
i had the honor of drawing and selected
the last airbender.
i didn't particulary want to see it, but wasn't 100% opposed
to the idea either. plus, it was in 3D.
though the movie is earning pretty bad reviews from experts
and those familiar with the television series on nickelodeon,
i actually ended up enjoying it.
nicholas was a little dissapointed, as he expected more action
but i'm more of a character development person anyways. not to mention the graphics, setting, and costumes were pretty cool.

what really mesmerized me was the water-bending motions
that looked like beautiful, fluid dancing. calming. peaceful.
after a quick internet search, i discovered
the water-benders perform tai chi.
and now, i want to learn it. for real. it was inspiiiring.
turns out besides just looking pretty, tai chi actually has a lot of
health benefits (both mental and physical)
such as developing balance, flexibility, control and muchmuchmore.
and you get all in touch with your chi through meditation.
sounds a little out there for most people, i knoooow.
but i don't care. so get over it.

one of my very favorite scenes of the movie.
