little lunch date

just wanted everrryone to know that
the tropical tea at east bay deli is
the equivalent of happiness in a styrofoam cup.
...and the salad bar is good too

tai chi chuan

the obligatory goofy glasses picture

on sunday night, nicholas made pizza for dinner.
afterwards we decided to see a movie at the theater and
threw shreds of paper into a hat for random selection.
i had the honor of drawing and selected
the last airbender.
i didn't particulary want to see it, but wasn't 100% opposed
to the idea either. plus, it was in 3D.
though the movie is earning pretty bad reviews from experts
and those familiar with the television series on nickelodeon,
i actually ended up enjoying it.
nicholas was a little dissapointed, as he expected more action
but i'm more of a character development person anyways. not to mention the graphics, setting, and costumes were pretty cool.

what really mesmerized me was the water-bending motions
that looked like beautiful, fluid dancing. calming. peaceful.
after a quick internet search, i discovered
the water-benders perform tai chi.
and now, i want to learn it. for real. it was inspiiiring.
turns out besides just looking pretty, tai chi actually has a lot of
health benefits (both mental and physical)
such as developing balance, flexibility, control and muchmuchmore.
and you get all in touch with your chi through meditation.
sounds a little out there for most people, i knoooow.
but i don't care. so get over it.

one of my very favorite scenes of the movie.

Date Night (Sushi&Fondue)

Date Night Outfit
(Recognize that Shirt & Blazer? Thanks, Target!)

Now this is how you order sushi!
Boyfriend always picks really good rolls...
my faves are the dynamite & spicy octopus rolls

Public Service Announcement:
there are directions listed on recipes for a reason!
Rather than following them, Boyfriend put all of the ingredients into a pot
(much earlier than they were needed)
and they boiled over the edge, and burned to death all over the stove.
needless to say, I had to go back to the grocery store for more ingredients

and had an awkward conversation with the checkout guy that looked a little like this:
Checkout Guy: Weren't you just here?
Me: Yea, my boyfriend and I were going to make fondue, but he didn't read the directions and the ingredients boiled out of the pot & burned all over the stove
Checkout Guy: Oh, I guess that makes sense. I saw the whipping cream
and strawberries and was like, "Hmmm."
*Awkward Pause*
Me: Yea, not so much.

distracting myself with a mini-photo shoot of yours truly.
in my mind I'm thinking:
"Is my boyfriend really that stupid eager?! We should break up.
How did he not read any of the directions before starting to cook?!"

Crushed Raspberries for our Homemade Fondue

White Chocolate
(and how amazing is my turquoise nail polish?)
It's my favorite!
If there is a heaven,
I hope they serve this every night for dessert.
