hot mess

this is the college library.
i consider it somewhat of a second home.
but not by choice.
you see, my laptop is in an endless state of
frozen
and overheats and shuts itself off whenever it wants to.
leaving me incapable of working on assignments from home.
so i go the library early (7:30am) and stay late (10:30pm)
whenever needed.
and sometimes i do both. like last week.
besides a lunch break & going to my two classes
i was literally at the same computer all day long.
when i graduate in May,
I may burn this building down.
though i do find the fountain very pretty!

split second

a rare opportunity for fun presented
itself last week in the form
of a mini-cookout with friends.
{veggie} burgers, chips, and coke
were to be had by all.
except me, who had a side of broccoli
and 3 glasses of wine! yesss.
afterwards, we were enthralled in the competitive
world of video game race car driving
swerving, sliding, and blowing shit up.
i rocked that track.

aggravation

looks like i'm not the only one
that dislikes reading textbooks.
i know exactly how she feels.

Friday, June 25

chinese vegetables

i get out of grad classes pretty late,
late enough to the point that i don't get home
til at least 9pm.
at that point in time, i'm starving
but not willing to cook anything
besides pasta or popcorn.
enter Great Wall.
egg drop soup & mixed chinese vegetables
and tofu with steamed rice.
and fortune cookies!
to collect, not eat.
winning combination every time.

airplanes

every single time this song plays on the radio
i crank it up louder!
moral of the story:
everything that hayley williams does rocks.
i love her. and this collaboration with b.o.b.

why iii prefer liquid medicine

one thing that i have always been a big failure at is swallowing pills. though i have a friend that can literally throw a handful of pills into her mouth and effortlessly swallow them all at once i am not even capable of swallowing one average sized (okay, small) pill by itself

i swish and toss and gulp to no end and still, those damn pills get stuck in my throat or on my tongue and wont. go. down

why is this relevant? because a few days back i decided to start taking a daily multivitamin. the first day, i got nauseous. the second day, i got a stomachache. and the third day, i only swallowed 1/4 of the pill. ONE FOURTH. that's right...i cut my one multivitamin into FOUR pieces. and could only swallow one of them.

what a sad sight.
speaking of which, i recorded myself trying to swallow a piece of the pill just to prove how awful i am at taking vitamins. tomorrow, i'm buying the chewable Flintstones or gummy bear vitamins.
that's right, gummy viiitamins, i say!

AHAHAHA
that video cracks me up because
1) it shows how ridiculous i look trying to take medicine
2) that is NOT how my voice sounds in my head!
listening to myself on recordings is weiiird.

to keep or not to keep

i've been reading a lot of magazines and watching a lot of makeover shows on tv. the result?
a desperate urge to go shopping.

on my most recent trip to tjmaxx i found this cute skirt, that is unlike anything i'd usually buy as it's kind of poufy and requires tops to be tucked in, since it sits right atop my hip bones.
and i do not tuck shirts in. ever.
except for this once. and the future moments in time that i decide to break this skirt out in public.

i also fell in love with these tan wedges, despite never wearing any shoes with any sort of a heel and having absolutely nothing to wear with them. and at $50 they're kind of expensive so any words of encouragement (should i keep them?) or suggestions on what to pair them with are highly encouraged...

...and no shopping trip would be complete without funny
pictures in the dressing room, so here for your viewing pleasure
are my best attempts at modeling.
it's a good thing i'm not banking my future on becoming famous.

fierce.

lol.

let 'em know

yesterday, a high school teacher of mine celebrated his birthday. being the good facebook friend slash student that i am, i posted a message on his wall. he replied that i had made his day, making me smile. it felt good to tell someone that they had made an impact on me. just for the fact that i'll always know they knew. i think i'd like to do this more often. afterall, i would be speechless and grateful if someone ever told me (years later) that i had done something that impacted them in a positive way.

so what i'm trying to say is, i credit dr. thompson for making me a better writer in high school. but i also remember his class because he played music during our daily guided writing time and liked us "band" people. (he played the trumpet in school). he was challenging, but fair and helpful. and i always respected him. so yea, tell someone who wouldn't expect it something memorable they did that has always stuck with you. they'll appreciate it. and it'll make you happy too.

tortilla chips

i like squirrels.
and while eating lunch in the park
on campus between classes, i got some pretty
up-close-and-personal photos of one!
how? you might ask...
by feeding it tortilla chips!

afterwards i took a little stroll around campus
(which was probably a mistake,
seeing as how it's been about 99 degrees outside
everyday this week.
and i was wearing a thick, plaid shirt.)
unbearable.

more presents

i finally got around to taking pictures of
my real birthday presents from nick
you didn't think he only got me roses
and lunch from moe's did you?
no, he's much more extravagant
than that...to a fault.
in fact, it's one of the things we've
disagreed on for years.
just give me a target giftcard and i'm happy,
but he refuses...and gets angry at me when
i get angry at him for buying me such
nice stuff. so without further argument,
i got...

an emerald necklace (my birthstone)

and my very own guitar!

safe travels

Like I mentioned yesterday,
my BFF is in Europe for a month.
Wanna live vicariously through her
blog? Okay.

i'm anxiously awaiting photographic
evidence of unicycylists in front of her house...
do you accept the mission, B?

LIGHTS- "Romance Is" Ustream

This is a song that I'm in love with.
I could listen to it over & over & over again
& again.
She's so talented.

evolution

soo my best friend is on an airplane
to europe right now.
she'll be visiting
germany, france, and italy
for over a month.

and i'll just be here.
acting as president of the
withdrawal support group i intend to start.

here's some old pictures from last year
that aren't already on the blog.

aren't we cute?

dear brittany,
have tons of fun and take lots of pictures.
oh, and don't forget me.
love, sam

yes, my life is really this boring sometimes.

the hair, the makeup, that outfit! jealous.

scratch scratch

for the second time in my twenty three
years of existence
i grew my nails out past my fingertipsss.
look at them.
they're beautiful.

but after two blissful weeks
i have now filed them off (gasp!) because
nicholas got me a guitar for my birthday
and as everyone knows,
you can't play guitar with long nails.

sadnesss.

paint splatter

who: brittany & samantha
what: painting party
why: GIRLS' NIGHT
when: saturday

how cute are these?!

my masterpiece! it's quite abstract, no?
so much emotion being conveyed!

Dear Painting, I LOVE YOU. Sincerely, Samantha

can't wait to hang it on my wall!

Friday, June 4

code jellyfish

with school almost out for the summer,
nicholas was asked to babysit his cousins
(who i love!)
for the rest of a "half day"
and invited me to come over.

they were busy eating lunch
at Ye Olde Fashioned Cafe
by the time i got out of class,
but i arrived just in time for to finish off
nicholas' french fries & share a banana split.

afterwards, we went to the beach
where we buried harper and jack,
made drip castles, &
jumped waves.

Wednesday, June 2

egg salad on wheat

wanting to spend time outdoors,
nicholas and i recently went to the
palmetto islands country park
for a picnic lunch.
afterwards, we played frisbee
and rented a paddleboat for an hour.

my favorite part?
me: hey nicholas, stop paddling. i wanna try to push it by myself.
nicholas: okay *takes feet off the pedals*
me: okay, now you're turn! *takes feet off the pedals*
nicholas: OH GOOD! that's exactly what it felt like earlier!

AHAHAHA
Okay, so apparently, I'm not the best paddleboater.
 I can live with that.

turtle rescue

after hearing a small patio table
topple over, i peered outside my front door
to find a turtle crawling around.
i immediately staged a rescue operation
to get him back into the lake,
though he didn't seem very fond of being
stuffed into a cardboard box.
As cute as I thought the turtle was,
I'm pretty sure the cat was even more interested
in our new, lost friend.
