snake charmer
more student art for moi! pretty sure mr. jordan has a crush on me. besides writing me notes and drawing pictures (that's him in the green football outfit), he's been hanging onto my arm and begging me to spend time at his desk while in class. that's good because he tends to be one of the students that acts up, so having him on my side makes behavior management easier...however, i have to start being more stern with him because i'm a teacher. he can't be so demanding of my time and attention. sigh.

childs pose
i used to love taking pilates classes at the gym. a lady named melody taught them on tuesdays and thursdays. she was awesome. but then she stopped. and i went to college. sooo it's been a few years. but since i didn't have class tonight (thanks fall break!) i pulled out my hot pink mat for an hour of poses at east shore. later, i filled a spot on my dad's bowling league and earned one of my all-time high scores...a 141.

i'm checking you out
the charleston friends of the library organization is having their annual BIG book sale all weekend. so this morning, i spent two hours searching through boxes and boxes of children's books in the hopes of finding some keepers for my future elementary classroom. in the end, i got 22 books for $30! two of which contained writing templates from the 80's. haha. a little outdated, but that kind of thing doesn't really change much. the rest were mostly fun, rhyming stories perfect for reading aloud or stocking the classroom literacy center. despite the chaotic crowd of eager book buyers, i'll be going back on sunday, when everything is marked down to half price! it's kind of like a treasure hunt.

the fault line
afters months years of not working out, i finally took use of my school's free gym membership with east shore athletic club. they have multiple gyms in every town around charleston, some of which are 24 hours! since nicholas has become really interested in racquetball recently, he's been asking me to play with him. so on wednesday, i took my newly activated id card and learned the sport. not gonna lie, at first it was really frightening. you're in a big white box, hitting a small bouncy ball off the floor, walls, and ceiling. it's flying around everywhere, banging against surfaces. but after awhile, you get used to the loud noise and it becomes really fun. some may even call it therapeutic. two hours later, my arm was so sore it hurt to hold a bottle of water up to my mouth. but alas, i challenged nicholas to a game of h-o-r-s-e on the basketball court. that was an embarrasing mistake. next time i'll stick to the group fitness classes! glad we spent the night watching 8093.485381 episodes of the office from the couch.
