today was "second sunday" in charleston, when king street closes to cars and people can walk and dine in the road. nicholas and i ate breakfast while playing darts (i won 4 games in a row), cleaned his room (busted out the mop and all), and picked up lunch at five guys (where we were able to people & dog watch through the window). after he went to work, i made a trip to goodwill where i scored a heck of a deal by getting toooons of awesome Land's End dishes for only $80! consider my future kitchen stocked.

saturday
nicholas had to work a double today. while waiting for him to get off, i: cleaned my room, discovered mtv's "guy code" (funny!), washed my laundry, colored a picture, watched blue valentine, experimented with a new decorating idea that i call, "glowstick garlands are going to be the next big thing", played temple run (my new favorite iphone app), ate cocoa almonds, and thought about how much i love my hanging star lamp.
at his apartment, we enjoyed a mega veggie pizza with an oil/garlic
base. later, he tried teaching me how to play madden for approximately 34 seconds before i fell asleep on the futon.
happy saturday, y'all!

interpretation
sssooo, yesterday was one of those days. ya know, when you hate your job and wonder why anyone would willingly decide to spend their life doing such frustrating tasks. so i went home and ordered chinese takeout. duh. as pleasant as my dinner was, i found it ironic that my fortune cookie stated something along the lines of "in order to experience the light, you must endure the darkness". fitting, no? then, upon almost opening my second fortune cookie (i said it was a bad day, okay?) i noticed that it was a DOUBLE FORTUNE COOKIE. no seriously! two cookies in one wrapper. BAM! That's gotta be some good luck or a sign or something, right? whatever. i like to think it was. proof:

oh, first grade
this may be from first quarter, but it's still funny.
you see, rather than drawing pictures of 11, 17, and 6 circles, one of my sweeties followed the directions a bit too literally. i'm sure there are tests out there that would deem her a genius...but i cracked up and made her re-do it.

back to school
though i wasn't particulary excited about having to return to work today, the district decided to close at 12...
surprise half-day? yessssss.
in other news, i drove my car over the 100,000 mile mark! naturally, i pulled over to take a picture. way to go, amigo!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
true life: i used to love blogging and being able to view my life in pictures. then, i started student teaching and completly abandoned it because i had no life.
but! i earned my master's degree, got a teaching position (first grade!), spent 5 days in turks&caicos, had the beeest cabin weekend in the mountains, and enjoyed 2 weeks off for christmas break, among other things.
phew! this new year, i want to continue pursuing my interests and sharing the ride on this little thing. so i guess...welcome back, self!
without further adieu...NEW YEAR'S EVE 2011: Phish. GLOWSTICKS. Dancing. GLOWSTICKS. Champagne. GLOWSTICKS. and listening to my sister say, "Money ain't no thang" or "Drop it like it's hot!".....GLOWSTICKS.
