too much onion
nick and i go out to eat a lot when we're together. cause it's easy. but i love when he cooks for us, so per my request, he agreed to make dinner if i chose the meal. uhhhh...indecisive, much? spur of the moment, i chose stuffed shells in the grocery store and nicholas whipper up dinner for three (his roommate was home). not pictured: the smoke alarm going off 3 times.

spares and strikes
125. 81. 145. 138. 130. 137. (my last six bowling scores)
because i sometimes bowl in a league with my dad. i have an average of 120 and everything. super cool, i know. don't judge.

bye bye blackie
my sister adopted our stray porch cat today. he was super sweet and adorable, but loud as anything. which is part of the reason why i charged a delivery fee for meeting her in north charleston. i hope "algernon" likes his new life as an indoor kitty. we'll miss the little guy! feeding him three times a day? notsomuch.

minors and majors
as fun and rewarding as teaching can be, it can also be frustrating, exhausting, disappointing...to keep myself from dwelling on the stressful side of things, i've decided to have a more positive perspective. for example, rather than telling you i had to write two referrals this afternoon, i'm just going to say: sixteen of my students didn't need a discipline slip! hooray! ;)
also, i just found some of the best activities for the rest of this week's writing plans. one of which is about "my dream" (martin luther king jr.) and the other is descriptive writing about ice cream. hopefully these'll keep them engaged.
two more days until the weekend comes back!

breaking the bank
sssooo, big news. nicholas and i have decided to move in together. i mean, technically we had talked about it before but i wasn't ready. that's all changed now. we're looking into two main locations, but i'm already vetoing downtown seeing as how 1) it's not always the safest and 2) when you're in walking distance to everything, it's easy to spend money. i present exhibit a: after lunch at the pit stop deli we grabbed frozen yogurt at 32 degrees, chilled at his apartment for a while, had a chai latte and mocha at kudu coffee with friends, and dined on a late dinner at king street grille. bam! i need a budget. now it's all about finding the right place at the right price. wish us luck!

patat spot & friet
surprise! it's the mandatory weekend eating-out post. haha. nick and i grabbed lunch at a new restaurant today which featured falafel and black bean cake pitas with a bar of fillings to stuff. though i prefer eat-a-pita's falafel better, i'm glad we tried a new spot.

schema
for someone that tends to be a homebody, i had lots of fun at a jam band party tonight with nick and his co-worker friends. good music, lights, 3D glasses, wine in mini bottles...it was rad.
happy saturday
in what turned out to be a mishmash of a day, i bought a cute new dress that was just screaming my name, took a nap, enjoyed an oyster roast, bonfire, and smores, watched most of the miss america pagaent, and drank wine at a friend's party (more on that later)...gahhh, i love weekends.

street walk
today was "second sunday" in charleston, when king street closes to cars and people can walk and dine in the road. nicholas and i ate breakfast while playing darts (i won 4 games in a row), cleaned his room (busted out the mop and all), and picked up lunch at five guys (where we were able to people & dog watch through the window). after he went to work, i made a trip to goodwill where i scored a heck of a deal by getting toooons of awesome Land's End dishes for only $80! consider my future kitchen stocked.
