i taught a thirty minute lesson on making text-to-text connections to my second grade field observation class today. it went relatively well, but it's a hard skill to learn so i don't think all of the students caught on. rome wasn't built in a day.

the best part was, during indoor recess, a girl drew a picture of me, or so she claims. haha. the resemblance is uncanny, am i right? annnd, one of the boys wrote me a note...how cuteee! these are both going into a notebook and getting saved.

auto drizzle

motivation doesn't strike often, so when i got the urge to clean out my car this week, i embraced it. despite the rain. yea, the girl in the big blue jacket, sperry boots, and pink umbrella cleaning out her car in the middle of a rain storm was me. what can i say...it needed to be done.

makeup and spuds

a friend of brittany won a "bridal beauty bash" (a.k.a. mary kay party) recently, and we were both invited to go with her. not wanting to pass up a girls' morning, we went with and laughed our way through makeup applications. afterwards, we had a glass of champagne & cranberry juice and ate lunch at mcalisters. it's not hard to be vegetarian when you're eating a greek salad and baked potato loaded with veggies, cheese, and salsa. mmm.

nicholas made pizza for the jets game.

and i just watched and ate the deliciousss food.

i love football season.

in other news, i need to start jogging.

in addition to finding out that the college of charleston has a legitimate quidditch team (ya know, like harry potter with brooms), watching bowling for columbine (thought-provoking stuff), and having bad dreams about bugs in my hair, i also spent this week making cupcakes infused with kahlua at brittany's house. she wrote a blog post about it whiiich you can take a look at on inside my locket, if you care to do so. anyways, have a nice week!

generally, when i don't want to read textbooks on my free days i browse the racks at target and tjmaxx. yes, it can be frustrating having to look through everysinglething because of the lack of organization but i like the experience of searching for things i like. unless, of course, i fall in love with something and can't find it in the perfect size.

and black velvet heels with zipper detailing.

on the other hand, i'm digging this faux leather jacket (black, though the picture suggests otherwise), demin shirt, and gray lug-sole boots that i have a love-hate relationship with. they're soo comfortable (and genuine suede) but they are a very green-ish shade of gray. annnd well, i think it's ugly.

i prefer silver-gray. whyyyy, shoemakers, why?

shake your tail feather

after playing with a group of people he didn't know last year, my dad started his own bowling team this season. the league plays three games every tuesday. though i have class in the evening, we're generally dismissed early. so when i got to my car and checked my cell phone, i was able to receive a voicemail from my dad, asking if i could come play. though i didn't have any socks, i went anyways and bowled a 103, 95, and 134. that might sound pretty bad to some people, but i'm pretty sure 134 is my highest score everrr. anyways, i've decided to be an alternate for the team so that i can go when i want (or as needed) without too much commitment. with that said, the teams were really supportive of each other, giving out high-fives for strikes. however, my favorite was when the wildcats did their team chants and a bowler had to do the turkey dance. haha.

i'm so predictable

it's just so...abstract

you're not even gonna believe this when i tell you, but this week in my graduate school class, i made a fingerpainting! yes, that's right. i painted with my fingers. and then, the class used brush strokes and color to convey an emotion. followed by a painting of our choice that made us happy. unreal. creativity and fine arts is definitely going down in the books as the best.class.ever.

restless night

i am so nervous/excited about meeting my new cooperating teacher today, that i couldn't sleep. yesss, i did sleep a little..but it wasn't very fulfilling. and i woke up over an hour before my alarm clock was set to go off. ohh, for the record, i'm observing a second grade class this semester!

in other news, this camera situation is getting ridiculous! i need to just pick one that i like and buy it! my cellphone camera has been doing a decent job, but i'm the kind of girl that needs a flash and a self-timer...

sooo, here's some calming music that i like. it truly got me through finals last semester...playing it a million times on repeat helped me focus and stay on task when completing my projects & paper writing.

that's because my hair is really straight and boring

& elongates my face even further.

with that said, i pulled my hair out of a ponytail today

and it was perfectly voluminous and curly.

ohh, how i wish my hair would naturally fall like this forever.

chocolate banana bites

after seeing this recipe for chocolate banana bites on Framed {a food and picture blog} i knew i had to try it. i mean, what could possibly be better than slices of banana dipped in mik chocolate and covered in peanuts or toasted coconut flakes? this past week, i made a batch and oh my gosh. they were divine. i will definitely be making these for every upcoming party i host. mmmm.
