setting suns

since i'm going into the education field
(student teaching next spring)
yesterday, i had to get a TB test. i do not like needles!

afterwards, i was stuck downtown
because i had a group project meeting at 4pm.
after exhausting all of my options for things to do,
i sat outside the library and randomly starting taking pictures.
and ended up really liking them.
it's amazing how little it takes to inspire me...
anyways, here they are:

palms of green and gold

hidden lamp-posts

after over 8 hours in charleston
it was nice to see the sun setting
as i walked to (& quickly climbed atop)
my parking garage

lucky number: 14, 27, 40, 44, 45, 46

something that not everyone may know about me
is that for years, i've been collecting
the fortunes in chinese cookies.
though i planned on creating a cool art project
out of them one day,
my attempt failed and i decided
storing them in a flower vase is artistic enough.

sadly, most of them were thrown away
but here are a few of the survivors:

you find beauty in ordinary things. do not lose this ability.

the best times of your life have not yet been lived.

somewhere, deep inside, we all can fly.

nothing gets in the way of your vision of yourself in the future.

you are a lover of words. someday you will write a book.

your secret desire to completely change your life will manifest.

Memory Monday (Marching)

after finding some old photos from high school
in a computer folder, i was inspired to start
"memory mondays" where i'll post pictures of things
i've done in the past, because:
a) it's fun to reminisce and
b) i have tons of pictures to share but no reason to post them
in a 2010 picture diary in the form of a blog

so with that said,
despite the fact that most people assume i would've
played the flute or another traditionally "female" instrument
when i joined the school band as a 6th grader,
i played the tuba for 9 years
and even marched with a sousaphone for 4 high school years
and i loved it!
sure, it was heavy and not exactly the most glamourous
instrument to play...
but i had killer biceps and loved my tuba guys to death.

though i stopped playing after my sophomore year of college,
i still pull out my tuba every december to celebrate Tubachristmas!

grow fond hearts

nicholas sabotages photos on a regular basis.

despite having scheduled blog posts
go up continuously throughout the weekend
i am still very much in the midst of a
homework crisis!
assignments are being turned in on average...
two days late.
and im tired and uninterested in finishing them.
besides stressing about what grades i'll earn
i've also been experiencing cuddle withdrawals.
you see, nicholas and i last saw each other
on monday.
and the wednesday before that...
and i have literally no time to see him until
my assignments are done and over with
on thursday!
which really sucks because:
I WANT A HUG.
somehow i thought posting some of my favorite
pictures of us together
(that haven't been shown recently)
might make me miss him less,
so here they are:

as friends. probably right before we started dating

ice cream date downtown.

making white-chocolate chip & banana pancakes in my dorm room

no comment

sorry, it's mushy. but cute.

downtown at Rock the Block

St. Patrick's Day (2009?) - probably an all-time favorite.

Thanksgiving. jumped into his arms. he pretended to drop me.

After making guacamole lives all weekend
at work, i was craving some chip dip of my own this week

Groceries. Aren't I cheesy creative?!

After working in a mexican restaurant for two years
I'm quite talented at avocado selection...

add salt, lime juice, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and jalapenos

Voila! Ready to Eat.

say cheeez

something you may not know about me:
i make amaziiing grilled cheese sandwiches.
...not that grilling a sandwich of cheese
is a particulary challenging culinary skill to master,
but still. i like to think i can grill buttered bread
to a golden perfection like a champ.
and while i usually prefer whole wheat bread
for its nutritional value, Arnold's Premium Italian Bread
is the best white bread ever.
Legit.

grilled cheese sandwiches should be served
with mustard. yellow or spicy brown.
and occasionally, dill pickles.
...my dad's gonna be pissed when he sees
all the bread is smooshed from its photo shoot
ahahahaha.
